Irreverence: The story of a thrash/ death metal band:
Irreverence was born in 1995 when Ricky Paioro (guitar and vocalist) and Davide Firinu (drums) decided to start a band. By 1997, they had their full lineup with Giuliano Strozzi on bass and Luca Petrazzuolo on lead guitar. They recorded their first demo in 1998, followed by another in 1999, and began making their mark in the metal world.
In 2000, the band signed their first record deal with Stonehenge Records and released their debut album, 'Totally Negative Thoughts'. Things were going well, but in early 2002, both Giuliano and Luca left the band. Ricky and Davide didn't give up and brought in new members: Stefano Bertolotti on lead guitar and Mauro Passiatore on bass.
The band then recorded a mini-CD called 'Target: Hate' at Spiderhouse Studios in Berlin, Germany, working with producer Harris Johns. Released in 2003, it was a big step forward for the group. Later that year, Stefano left the band, and their friend Luca Colombo joined as the new guitarist.
In 2005, Irreverence recorded their third album, War Was Won'. They signed a deal with On Dead Sound Records, but soon decided to release their music on their own. In 2006, they put out a "best-of" album called 'Into Battle since 1995', which sold over 1,500 copies worldwide. In 2007, they contributed a cover of Tankard's 'Beermuda' to a tribute album, showing their respect for other metal legends.
By 2009, they had signed with Noisehead Records and unveiled 'Upon These Ashes' (2010), featuring a guest appearance by Tom Angelripper of Sodom. This period marked extensive touring, including high-profile festival appearances and international recognition.
In 2014, Irreverence partnered with Nadir Music to release 'Shreds of Humanity'. The album was followed by a European tour and a 20th-anniversary celebration in Milan, which was immortalized in their live album, 'Raise Chaos – Live in Milan' (2016). Their next album, 'Still Burns' (2018), showcased a matured and refined sound, drawing inspiration from the iconic film La Haine.
Through decades of lineup changes, Irreverence's commitment to delivering authentic thrash metal has remained unshakable. 'Scapegoat' EP (2020) proved they are as relentless as ever, blending new material with revitalized classics.
On April 1st, 2024, the band released their latest album 'Forsaken' independently. Now, as they prepare to release their highly anticipated new album in the second half of 2025, Irreverence is set to rise to new heights and cement their position as leaders in the global metal scene. Stay tuned - this is a band you simply cannot afford to miss!
